PAPSRS 2010 Psychiatric Rehabilitation Service Awards

The Pennsylvania Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (PAPSRS) invites nominations of individuals and Psychiatric Rehabilitation agencies or programs which have distinguished themselves in their commitment to the principles of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Awards are given in the four categories listed below. Award winners will be honored at the PAPSRS Annual conference on April 27, 2010 at the Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center Hotel in State College, PA.


• Distinguished Career Award- This award is to honor an individual who, throughout their career, has effectively promoted the development and implementation of psychiatric rehabilitation services in Pennsylvania. Nominations are open to members of PAPSRS/USPRA who are credentialed in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and have no less than 10 years experience in psychiatric rehabilitation.

• Distinguished Advocate Award- This award is to honor an individual who has advocated for the inclusion of psychiatric rehabilitation services in their organization, county, region, and/or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Nomination for this award is open to mental health staff, persons in recovery, family members and public administrators.

• Distinguished Practitioner Award- This award is to honor an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to the principles and ethics of psychiatric rehabilitation in their work with persons in recovery. Nominations are open to mental health direct care and/or supervisory staff who are either an individual member or work for an organizational member of PAPSRS/USPRA.

• Outstanding Program Award- This award is to honor an agency or program within an agency, which operates psychiatric rehabilitation that effectively meet the needs of persons in recovery. Nominations for this award are open to Psychiatric Rehabilitation agencies or programs that have been in operation for no less than 3 years and are organizational members of PAPSRS/USPRA.

Conference Scholarship Information

PAPSRS 2010 Conference Scholarship Application
The purpose of the PAPSRS scholarships is to provide the opportunity for persons who, due to financial restrictions, would be unable to participate in the PAPSRS Conference without scholarship support. This scholarship opportunity only covers the cost of the conference it does not include the cost of meals, lodging or travel.

Award Process:
• Selections will be made by the scholarship committee after reviewing all applications received.
• Scholarship application will be accepted between November 23, 2009 and February 15, 2010.
• Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 15, 2010.
• If you apply for a scholarship but are not selected as a scholarship recipient you will still be able to register for the conference at the early bird rate – attach your scholarship denial letter to your registration to receive the early bird special.
• Application for scholarship is open to anyone in recovery from mental health conditions. Priority will be given to those who have not received a scholarship in the past and those persons who are members of USPRA or PAPSRS.
• Scholarships are not transferable. Scholarship recipients must notify PAPSRS if they cannot attend the conference.
• Completed applications must be postmarked or received via e-mail by February 15, 2010.
